About 40 students and 20 teachers of SMAK Saint
Carolus Penfui, Kupang Municipalities attended writing training that was held
by Media Pendidikan Cakrawala NTT (MPC NTT). The training which consisted of journalism
training for the students and popular scientific paper writing training for the
teachers held in two days; on April 27, 2016 until April 28, 2016. The hall of SMAK
Saint Carolus Penfui was the place used to hold the training.
In the opening ceremony there were Soleman Mone, chief
of the General Secondary Education of Kupang Municipalities; Antonius Jemadi,
the head master of SMAK Saint Carolus Penfui and also Agustinus Rikarno, the general
manager of MPC NTT. In his speech, Antonius Jemadi said that literacy culture
that was programmed by the education and cultural minister is a good program,
so all the students and teachers in his school will do the program. “Actually,
literacy culture has been implemented in this school since 6 months ago trough class
wall magazine. The best writing found in class wall magazine will be selected
to be published in school magazine.” Antonius hoped that the training held by
MPC NTT can motivate the students to improve their reading and writing skill.
As same as Antonius; Jhon Tubani, chairman of the
training committee also explained that their school has been implemented the
literacy program launched by Indonesian education and cultural minister. He also
explained about the correlation between reading and writing. “If we want to be
a good writer, then we must be a good reader,” said Jhon.
Soleman Mone, appreciated MPC NTT in doing this
training. “This is the first training for the teachers and students that held
in Kupang Municipalities, since literacy program launched by Anies Baswedan,”
said Soleman. He hoped by doing this training, SMAK Saint Carolus Penfui can be
an example for the other schools in Kupang Municipalities in implementing
literacy program. Furthermore, Soleman also appreciated SMAK Saint Carolus
Penfui in starting an extraordinary program for the teachers and the students. At
the end of his speech, Soleman hoped that the training can be done sustainably,
so there will be some professional writers who come from SMAK Saint Carolus. After
delivered the speech, Soleman officially opened the training. (JKo)
