ELIAZER TEUF: STUDENTS ARE THE HERO

The students of SMAN I Kupang Timur, SMAN II Kupang Timur, and SMAN III Kupang Timur were ready to plant saplings around the Department of Youth Education and Sport office on January 22, 2016.

On January 22, 2016 Media Pendidikan Cakrawala NTT team; the secretary of Dinas Pendidikan Pemuda dan Olahraga (department of youth education and) of Kupang district, Eliazer Teuf, S.Pd., M.Pd and the students of Media Pendidikan Cakrawala NTT guidance schools such as SMAN I Kupang Timur, SMAN II Kupang Timur, and SMAN III Kupang Timur planted 500 saplings around the department of youth education and sport office. This program aimed to conserve the environment and also to support Tanam paksa, paksa tanam program that has been programmed by Ayub Titu Eki, the regent of Kupang regency.

At that moment Eliazer Teuf appreciated Media Pendidikan Cakrawala NTT and also all the students who planted the saplings. He said that Media Pendidikan Cakrawala NTT team and also the students created a new story in Kupang regency. He also said that all the students who planted the saplings are the hero of tree. “Students are the hero, because now they are writing a new story in their life by planting the saplings,” said Eliazer Teuf. Then, he explained that as a hero, the students must watch over the trees because human needs oxygen that produced by the tree and in other side trees need carbon oxide produced by human.

Philipus Nahak, S.Pd, the head master of SMAN III Kupang Timur said that planted saplings was a positive activity for all the students. He also stated that this program can motivate the students to do more, so this program must be done continuously. Besides that, Nahak hoped that Media Pendidikan Cakrawala NTT could help them in rendering 300 saplings for their school.

Agustinus Rikarno, S. Fil commented that there were three ways in order to be remembered by others, include planting trees, writing a book, and also have children. He stated that planted saplings program was a beginning step done by Media Pendidikan Cakrawala NTT and there will be so many programs which will be done Media Pendidikan Cakrawala NTT deals with education in NTT Province. However, Rikarno hoped all components can support Media Pendidikan Cakrawala NTT to improve education quality in NTT province. “There is a way to change people of NTT destiny that is education,” said Rikarno. Although they are thirsty, they still planted the saplings happily. They are smiling for their better future.

Students planted the saplings well because they realized that they must do more for their environment. This program motivated them to conserve the environment.
